Does this photo remind you of your financial life?  Almost every day, I hear from a metro Detroit family that feels like their financial life is a sinking ship.  You may have remembered hearing the line  “Women and Children First!” in movies about the Titanic.

The same principle applies when your financial ship is looking like it may go down.  When you’re in difficult financial waters, you must take care of you own immediate household first.  We find the this advice in scriptures:

“If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8

Most Christian scholars when applying this verse to personal finance, translate this verse to to mean, you must take care of your own household first.  This means making sure your family has food, shelter, transportation and basic clothing.

Every captain has a well defined emergency plan in place:  life boats, life jackets, exit rows are marked, flares, etc.   If this ship is starting to look a lot like your financial situation, I’d like to ask you what’s your plan?  If you’d like assistance in determining the best way to get your family back to safe and secure ground, contact us.  Our firm specializes in using rock solid biblical and financial planning principles to navigate your way back to safe harbor.
